ECT Terminal surcharges (climate tariff & spread surcharge)

A surcharge of €20.00 will be applied per terminal visit for all trucks, excluding zero-emission trucks.

We would like to inform you about some important changes that will impact your goods transport to and from the ECT terminals, which will be implemented from January 1, 2024. The tariff applies to both the ECT Delta and ECT Euromax terminals. Additionally, we anticipate that APM Terminals will implement similar surcharges.

Climate tariff and spread surcharge                                                   A surcharge of €20.00 will be applied per terminal visit for all trucks, excluding zero-emission trucks. This amount includes the climate tariff and the spread surcharge, which will be introduced from January 1, 2024.

What is the climate tariff?                                                                                        This measure supports the pursuit of sustainability and a shift from road to water and rail. The Climate Tariff contributes to the terminal's climate goals and is essential in the pursuit of climate neutrality in logistics processes.

What is the spread surcharge?                                                                                This spread surcharge, including the spread premium, aims to encourage a more balanced distribution of truck traffic throughout the day and night. ECT aims for a more efficient operation of the terminals and wants to accommodate carriers who use the facilities outside of peak hours.

Why €20.00 per terminal visit?                                                        Experience has shown that carriers often receive a different time slot than initially planned, leading to double costs in practice. By implementing a one-time surcharge per terminal visit, we aim to prevent additional administrative costs and peak surcharges from being doubly levied, should carriers unexpectedly miss a time slot.

                                                                                                                                       Specific instructions:

  • For imports, the surcharge applies twice if the container needs to be fully unloaded and returned empty to the ECT Delta.
  • For exports, the surcharge applies twice if the container needs to be emptied and returned full to the ECT Delta.
