Get insights into your demurrage and detention and take action before your shipment gets too close to extra fees.
Unexpected demurrage and detention charges are often a headache, especially when they could have been avoided.
The good news is that Shypple now offers:
N.B. Please keep in mind that this is currently only available to sea import dry customers who ship to Antwerp or Rotterdam.
Demurrage and detention in your shipment pages
You can now check out your demurrage and detention days on a shipment level. Once the container's discharge date is registered in our system, the demurrage progress bar will show how many free days are left on the terminal. When these free days are used up, the number of days is shown in red, like +1. The costs of these overdue days will also be shown next to the bars.
For detention, the same progress bar is used, but it starts when the Full gate out movement is automatically registered and stops when the empty gate in movement is registered. The total costs of demurrage and detention are shown below the progress bars.
Disclaimer: This data is based on container data obtained by Shypple from the terminal or carrier. This information may vary. Nonetheless, we trust that the insights provided by this new feature will provide you with more insights and an overview of your demurrage and detention, as well as the tools you need to prevent unnecessary demurrage and detention costs.
When you have agreements that cover both demurrage and detention, they will look like this:
First day of demurrage
On the Transports overview, you can customize your pick-ups and deliveries to keep an eye on the first day of demurrage.
The estimated date is based on the ETA plus the number of free days that the customer has.
The real date is based on the date the container was discharged from the port plus the number of free days.
You can now look at estimated or actual dates when planning the delivery date and make plans based on that. If you plan the delivery on or after the first day of demurrage, you will also see a warning message.
Your demurrage and detention agreements
On your rates overview you can find your demurrage and detention agreements.
We currently only have agreements in place for ocean import dry shipments. It is important to understand that D&D agreements are dependent on who books the sea freight. These Shypple agreements do not apply to CIF import shipments.
OneView shippers can view both the agreements they have with Shypple and any other forwarder or carrier they might have agreements with. This way, you can keep track of all of your agreements in one place. Download the CSV template and PDF instructions, and then press the "+ Add agreement" button to upload your demurrage and detention agreements. When the template is filled out, copy the email address and send it to demurragedetention@shypple.com.
